Two murders have rocked the city of Houston. Are they the work of a serial killer, or is a copycat trying to get away with murder? That is the question facing Special Agent Bethany Sanchez who is eager for her new assignment in violent crimes but anxious about meeting her new partner. Special Agent Thatcher Graves once arrested her brother, and he has a reputation for being a maverick. Plus, their investigative styles couldn’t be more opposite: he operates on instinct, while she goes by the book

When hot leads soon fizzle out, their differences threaten to leave them deadlocked. But an attempt on their lives turns up the heat and brings them closer together, and a third victim might yield the clue that will help them zero in on a killer. This could be the case of their careers . . . if they can survive long enough to solve it.

Review

First off as I wrote at the top "To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I must mention that Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book.I was sent a free copy of Deadlock by DiAnn Mills for only my honest review of Deadlock by DiAnn Mills."

Prior to getting Deadlock by DiAnn Mills for free I had never heard of DiAnn Mills, so this is the first of her books I have ever read. I don't know about you, but I am always a bit hesitant when it comes to an author that I have never heard of before. There is always a little bit of what if I don't like their style or if they are prejudiced in some way. This is one of the main reason I love to get books for review so that I can try out new authors works without risk and the fact that I can share what I feel about the book with others.

Right off the bat the first thing I noticed and loved about the book was the cover. The cover of this book has both of the main characters right there on it. I really love when books do this because then the reader is not left having to try and picture the main characters instead the reader knows exactly what they look like from the get go.

Special Agent Bethany Sanchez and Special Agent Thatcher Graves are both FBI agents who are working together to solve murders in this book. Special Agent Bethany Sanchez and Special Agent Thatcher Graves are both complete opposites Bethany is by the books and Thatcher is the typical by his gut wildcard that is typical of a TV show agent. Together as Special Agent Bethany Sanchez and Special Agent Thatcher Graves learn to work together they begin to make a pretty good team.

I liked the way that from chapter one the reader gets dropped right in the heat of things there are no slow parts in this book. The book begins with Special Agent Bethany Sanchez meeting Special Agent Thatcher Graves at a murder scene for day one of her new job in violent crimes.

Overall I enjoyed reading this book and I enjoyed the ending as well. While I do not think I will seek out more books in this series, I would not be opposed to reading more of them if they fell into my lap. If you enjoy cop shows like NCIS, Criminal minds, and Blue Bloods that this is the book for you.
