To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I need to mention that Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book,Girl in the Song: The True Story of a Young Woman Who Lost Her Wayand the Miracle That Led Her Home by Chrissy Cymbala Toledo.

Chrissy grew up surrounded by the beauty of love and the ugliness of pain. The daughter of a pastor whose church was located in a rough-and-tumble area of Brooklyn, she witnessed the ravaging effects of the streets on the lives of the most desperate—drug addicts, derelicts, and other destitute people. Yet her own home was a haven of warmth, filled with affection and love.

Then something happened that tore her away from it. With the flip of a switch, Chrissy fell deeper and deeper into deception where haunting images and songs pointed to one thing—perfection. Longing to be the girl in the song, she became entangled in an obsessive relationship. Before long, secret after secret led her down the path to becoming someone she didn’t even recognize. Locked in to an impossible life, Chrissy found release from a surprising direction.

As I wrote int he disclaimer "To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I need to mention that Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book,Girl in the Song: The True Story of a Young Woman Who Lost Her Wayand the Miracle That Led Her Home by Chrissy Cymbala Toledo."

I first off want to let everyone know that this is not my typical genre I do enjoy christian books, but I tend to prefer the fiction so this was a bit new to me. I would not say that I loved the book, but I did not hate it either. It was an interesting experience for me because I have never read this style of christian book before. But I have now discovered that this is not my type of genre I plan to stick with Christen fiction. However I have done my best to review the book without letting my neutrality towards the book influence it.

The book begin when Chrissy is only four years old. I found this to be a unique way to begin a book because it would give the reader not only perspective on Chrissy, but also on how her parent were when she was a child and into the way she grew up. A time skip happens and chapter three begins after two years have passed. I found these beginning chapters to be very slow; I read them, but I wish that the time skips had been faster. However I do believe that having more than one chapter on Chrissy's childhood was a bit overkill; one chapter would have been plenty. The author could have had one childhood chapter that easily could have covered everything.

My favorite part of this book is from chapter twenty three onward because this is when Chrissy really decides to turn her life around. I enjoy the ending of this book the best because I am a big fan of happy endings where everything worked out for the best and a person's faith is rewarded in the end.

Overall this would be a great book for anyone who enjoy christian non-fiction on someones true life story. The book is well written and the narrator is clear and honest. There are no misspellings or typos in the books. It would make a good gift for any Christian book reader who is a fan of non-fiction.
