How to Make Money as a College Student?

Updated on July 4, 2015

Fiverr

Fiverr is by far the best and fastest way to make money as a college student. Fiverr allows people to create an account and sell gigs. Gigs are jobs that the person will do for five dollars (four dollars after Fiverr fees). Students can create all sorts of gigs depending on their skill set and you can make a lot of money not enough to get rich or to quit your job, but still a lot. I have been on Fiverr for almost two years and I have earned two thousand dollars. Popular gigs include voice overs, ghost writing, editing, advertising, filming, photo-shop, holding up signs, creating messages using food items, modeling, and writing. Once you become a level two seller you can offer gig extras for instance maybe your base gig is "I will write three hundred words" then your gig extras could be "For an additional ten dollars I will write seven hundred and fifty words" or " For an extra five dollars I will deliver your gig in twenty four hours".

HubPages

HubPages might not get you money as quickly as Fiverr, but it will get you more consistent money. On Hubpages you can create hubs (articles, recipes, videos) on any topic you want and then publish them. With a connected google ad account you can earn money based on the viewing and ad clicks on your hub. Make sure not to click on your own ads even if you are on a different computer as this can get your account suspended, plagiarizing will also get your account suspended. I have found that most people can not get the google ad account until they have about twenty hubs published. Once you have a google ad account connected you can start to make money. The payout is at sixty dollars and you do get paid I have already gotten my first payment deposited to my Paypal account. I have over a hundred hubs and I am consistently earning ten to twenty dollars a month on hubpages.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a site that allows you to earn points by completing various tasks. Those points can then be used to get rewards like giftcards. Users can earn points "swagbucks" through playing games, taking surveys, taking a daily poll, creating polls, searching the web, printing and using coupons, completing offers, shopping, and through get free items. A five dollar gift card is normally about five hundred points depending on how much time you are willing to spend on the site you could easily earn five to twenty dollars in gift cards per month. I personally only do the daily poll, the searching, and I use their coupons and I earn about five hundred points every two to three months.

Buying Gift Cards

I'm sure your looking at this topic and thinking how am I going to make money by buying gift-cards? The answer is is simple you are not going to buy them for full price from a retailer. No instead you are going to buy them online at a discount. The best site to got to for this is gift-card granny. This site site lets you type in a store and then it will show where the best places to buy that gift-card are so you get the most for your buck. The way this whole process works is you go online and buy a twenty five dollar gift card to target, but you only spend twenty dollars to buy it, BAM you just made five dollars. The secret with this is to only buy gift-cards to places where you would be spending money regardless of the gift-card. For instance maybe you always buy coffee at McDonald's so by getting a gift-card to McDonald's you are getting some extra free money. Or perhaps you get groceries at Target then you could get a target gift-card. The secret to Target though is not to get a gift card at less than six percent because the Target Redcard offers five percent off and even if you use it with a gift-card you do not get the red card savings on whatever you are buying with the gift-card.
