I was sent a free copy of Street God: The Explosive True Story of a Former Drug Boss on the Run from the Hood--and the Courageous Mission That Drove Him Back by Dimas Salaberrios and Angela Elwell Hunt for free for only my honest and unbiased review of the book.

So WOW! This book was totally amazing and inspiring. Street God: The Explosive True Story of a Former Drug Boss on the Run from the Hood--and the Courageous Mission That Drove Him Back by Dimas Salaberrios tells the story of Dimas and how he went from a child with a dream of being a drug dealer to a drug dealer and how salvation came to him from God. I loved the scene when Dimas sister got him interested in God and Jesus when he was a young child. I only wished that she would have kept him interested through out his childhood as maybe he could have avoided drugs. Yet, I feel as if his criminal past shaped him into someone who can truly help others find God. I would love to ask Dimas if he felt it was all worth it? Would he believe that if the drugs had not happened that his ability to help others would not have happened that he would not have found that part of himself.

I truly enjoyed reading Street God: The Explosive True Story of a Former Drug Boss on the Run from the Hood--and the Courageous Mission That Drove Him Back by Dimas Salaberrios as it was not an other dry book with lot of scripture (not to say that that is a bad thing), but instead it was an inspirational true story with a strong voice. I loved the author's writing style he was brutally honest about everything and pulled no punches. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to see how God can help us if we reach out and ask him to.

God for the Rest of Us: Experience Unbelievable Love, Unlimited Hope, and Uncommon Grace by Vince Antonucci shows people that God is for everyone not just the rich or the outgoing. God is also for:

• prostitutes
• shame filled
• addicts
• dysfunctional families
• doubters
• tattooed
• atheists
• worriers
• sin city
• pimp
• those who have been turned
• forgotten
• broken
• every one

Now for me the chapter that really hit me was the one for worriers. I am not one of those people who obsess about everything, but I do sometimes get stressed out about things and I begin to worry. For me the big one is public speaking. Just reading the chapters for worriers made me think about my worrying a different way a learned the word worry actually came from a word that meant to "choke or to strangle". 30% of deaths are hear related and many heart problems are made worse be the symptoms of worry. I learned that worry is concern about things beyond a person's control while concern is worry of something you can can control. Concern is okay it is worry that needs to be fought and avoided not just for health, but also for peace of mind. For this review I decided to only focus on the chapter for worriers so as to not tell you about the entire book. You can see my bullet list above for a list of all the chapters.

Now then on the topic of books to give people to help them to believe. Both books have different strong points and the important thing is to consider the person you are giving the book to. The first reads like fiction even if it is true, while the second reads like non fiction. The second book would be good for a person who would match with any of the chapters like a prostitute or such. It really just comes down to what would a person actually read.
